This Week I Am:

in food, Germany, happiness, life, water, women

Listening to: Air Traffic Controller: My favs on this album: Hurry, Hurry  and You Know Me

and RadioLab, What’s Left When You’re Right? A particularly exciting episode about extreme opposites and what happens when they clash. Stories about game shows, creepy moments in a cabin in the woods and left-handed folks drew me in for the entire episode.

Reading: Stones from the Rivera novel about a little person living in Germany in WWII. She’s mildly psychic and while it’s a definite page-turner, I’m starting to wonder why almost every work of art that takes place in Germany happens during WWII. I mean, yes, there are a lot of stories to be told, but I would like to read about another period in this country’s history. Suggestions?

All sorts of sober blogs. If you are a sober blogger (or just a blogger who writes about things in general, really) and want me to check out your blog, please let me know in the comments!

Watching: Mrs. D’s TV debut! My first ever football/soccer game where Germany beat the U.S.  The game didn’t do much to dispel my belief that football is just a tad bit boring. And this gem from The Daily Show. Jessica Williams is on fire!

Cooking: Sabi’s Vegan Yellow Daal and Moroccan Chicken with Chickpeas and Quinoa. (The recipe calls for lamb but I’ve used chicken, pork or beef as well. You could probably even omit the meat. I also add 6 mushrooms and a chopped red pepper.)

Drinking: Water, water and more water. Reincarnated mermaids dehydrate easily in this summer heat, my friends.

Oh, and an N/A beer while watching the game. Germans do alcohol free beer right! Why? Because they treat it like an energy drink. (That, and they love beer in all forms and often drink it just to enjoy the taste when they don’t want to get drunk. Novel concept!)

Baking: My gluten and dairy free cinnamon rolls and gluten-free, vegan brownies. Recipe to come after I perfect it 🙂

Writing: New moon intentionsMy curriculum for a program I’m going to offer later this summer. Details to come! Writing prompts for July. I’ve decided to send them out once a month instead of doing a weekly email. You can sign up here if you’re interested. I’m simplifying, friends, and it feels so good!

Traveling to: Zürich for the weekend with Sante and friends. Super excited to check out a new city and practice understanding Swiss-German.

P.S. I stole this format from Mrs. D, who is an incredibly talented and adorable blogger. Plus she’s got a book coming out. Oh, and she has a Kiwi accent, which gives her mad bonus points in my book.

What’s going on in your world this week? Share links and other interesting stuff with me please!
