MMP: New Year’s Optimism

by Rebecca A. Watson on December 15, 2014

in Monday Morning Pages, optimism

I am an Aries through and through. This means that I love a fresh start. Not only do I love a fresh start, I am almost always optimistic about it. It’s probably what got me through two divorces, although I’m sure it’s also caused me a bit of trouble now and then too.

Aires: The Ram

Aries, The Ram: Yep, I might have some of the qualities of that animal.

As we draw close to the end of the year, I look back through my journals and see this excitement in me rising. In 2012:

Happy Winter Solstice! Wheeee! So excited. Oh, and it’s also the planetary alignment, hence the “end of the world” for so many people. Well, frankly I’m looking forward to it.”

And then in 2013:

What really needs to happen is that a law be passed like in Germany where you can’t have a CEO paid more than 30 times that of its lowest paid employee. Then everyone could live in a more comfortable state.

I hope we get to a world where that happens. I do believe that people can and will come more into consciousness and that we’ll evolve to take better care of each other and the planet.

tree lover

I am a bit of a tree nymph after all.

I’m feeling this optimism rise up in me again as we near 2015. What little seed will be planted that could sprout as we move throughout the year? What beautiful life will grow as we start this new chapter in our lives?

I haven’t made any New Year’s resolutions yet, and I’m not 100 percent sure I will. I’m pretty happy with the person I am, which I think is a pretty big accomplishment.

I do know that I have some things I’d like to do in 2015, and one of them has sprouted from this Monday Morning Pages concept. I’ll tell you more about it come January.

For now, I’m just basking in the soft glow of what little light we have, grateful for the year that has passed and quietly optimistic for a new year and all it brings.
