Happy Birthday to Me & Happy Weekend to You!

OK so maybe it’s not quite the weekend, but let me tell you something: Thursday has always been my favorite day simply because it was almost the weekend.

There’s something palatable in the air. People are excited, making plans. And since it’s my birthday, of course I am both excited and making plans 🙂

It's one of the first times in years we won't be at the Sea Otter Classic so I have options!

It’s one of the first times in years we won’t be at the Sea Otter Classic, so I have options!

There have been two periods in my life where I didn’t feel this way. One was when I worked as a waitress. Weekends to me meant working hard and missing out on concerts, parties and general fun.

The other was when I started this whole lucid life. Suddenly it seemed there was nothing to look forward to but long stretches of empty time that I’d previously filled with planning menus (read: planning drinking), sitting on patios (read: sipping wine in the sun) and gardening (read: drinking beer and operating hedge trimmers).

Friday arrived and I’d be filled with blah. What would I be celebrating with tonight? BBQ invitations fell flat. What was the point?

As you can imagine, I was a real joy to be around.

But then something shifted. I woke up one Saturday filled with gratitude that it was 7 a.m., I wasn’t hung over and I had the whole day in front of me. Since then, I haven’t looked back.

But how did I get there? This is one of the top questions I get from folks after they quit drinking. So I decided to create a class to answer that question. And since it’s my birthday, I’m offering it on special for $3.50 for this weekend only. (It’s normally $24.95.) Whee!

I’m so excited to hear what you think. And I’m thrilled to be celebrating a successful 35th year on this gorgeous blue planet. I’m blessed to be celebrating with hikes in the Black Forest with friends and Neka, a Sodastream machine (yay Sante and the environment!) and a BBQ this weekend.

Because you can’t celebrate your birthday before it happens in Germany. This, as a friend of ours said, is not possible. But an awesome weekend without booze? That is most certainly possible 😉
