Ostara’s Blessings

It’s Easter Monday here. Say what you want about the Catholics, but they sure know how to take days off of work. Four day weekend after our week-long vacation? Yes please!

So, while I’m out gallivanting outside on the absolutely gorgeous day, I thought I would share something from my newest daily devotion/meditation book.

Life is eternal, and love is immortal, and death is only a horizon, and a horizon is nothing save the limit of our sight.
— Rossiter Worthington Raymond

Whether we are religious or not, the essence off the Easter story is relevant to all of us. It is the triumphant message that light is more powerful than dark, that love is stronger than fear, and that life can win over death.

In all of us there are the seeds of darkness, despair and death. Some adult children have lived their whole lives in the fear of being overwhelmed one day. For us, Easter is the symbol of ultimate victory made possible by a Power greater than ourselves. It is the celebration of our connection with that Higher Power.

Now matter what our religious beliefs, the Easter story is not only about what happened to someone else; it’s about what’s happening to us — or can happen. It’s about the experience of being lifted up and made new, when we ourselves didn’t have the power to do it.

I believe that new life is possible through the power of a loving God.

Cheers to you all on this Easter Monday. May you find that power that’s bigger than you — the one that can do amazing and beautiful things with your life, no matter how impossible you might think that to be.

Blessed be.

P.S. If you’re wondering who Ostara is, check this out.
