33 Things I’ve Learned From Myself

When I first came to, or awakened and realized my alien nature, or became generally more self-aware, or whatever you want to call it, I started writing A LOT more. Before I was probably writing a few pages a month and after I was writing at least a few pages a week, if not more.


Something I often did then was re-read what I had written later for tidbits of wisdom. These were generally short sentences that stood out to me as rules or ideals to live by.

I recently came across the list and thought I would share it with you.

  1. Love Yourself. Be “selfish.”
  2. Eat lots of veggies. Drink lots of water.
  3. You can go anywhere if you act like you belong.
  4. Don’t intervene.
  5. Detach.
  6. Take breaks. Nothing is so important it can’t wait.
  7. Be optimistic. It suits you.
  8. Make your bed.
  9. Take care of your feet and teeth.
  10. Forget fear.
  11. Ground yourself. Literally.
  12. Some things are better left to chemicals and professionals.
  13. Gotta know the rules to break them.
  14. Take things as they come. Live in the moment.
  15. Get out of the habit of habit.
  16. Follow through. It will help you to your purpose.
  17. Don’t be so hard on yourself. You can do whatever you wanna do.
  18. The very thing you fear may be the thing that will save you.
  19. Trust the Universe. Trust yourself.
  20. Spend time in solitude every day. It is the fuel for clarity and intuition.
  21. One thing at a time. Don’t divide your energy.
  22. Listen.
  23. If you want something, just ask. Be sure it is what you want.
  24. A lot of times the right choice is the hardest choice.
  25. There is something inside me that does and something inside me that lets. Honor both.
  26. Be confident. Don’t question yourself.
  27. Take your own advice.
  28. Don’t fool yourself into thinking things are simple when it comes to real souls and emotions.
  29. It’s practice, not perfection.
  30. When traveling, a little planning is necessary.
  31. Don’t worry. It helps nothing.
  32. Don’t second-guess yourself. It’s another way of living with regret: an impossible way to grow.
  33. Pay attention to your intuition. Don’t ignore the signs.

It’s been years since I’ve gone through my journals looking for these kind of insights. The closest thing would be my Monday Morning Pages project from 2014.

I’m thinking I might start doing it again. After all, it’s part of #27, which also happens to be the age I finally woke up AND one of my favorite numbers.
