Mistakes & Character Flaws

in life, opportunity, Values, writing

So today was supposed to be the day I released my book. I have been working toward this deadline for months. I worked through most of this last weekend to put the final touches on everything.

Then something happened. An editor offered to comb through it one last time before it hit the shelves, both digitally and in print.

I had just finished going through something I’d written about admitting mistakes and looking at our character flaws. If I followed my own advice and let this editor take a look at my book, it would mean fewer mistakes. But it would also mean postponing the release, which would mean swallowing my pride.

And pride happens to be one of my flaws.

I know, I know. You're so surprised!

I know, I know. You’re so surprised!

I really want to release this book. Anyone who’s ever written a thesis for school or a book of their own knows how many times you read through it. It can start to make you a little crazy.

But I also want it to be successful, to be amazing. And that means taking help when it’s offered, especially from a professional. Even if it means admitting that I have flaws.

So, after a huge amount of deliberation, I’m choosing to postpone the release until next month. BUT! Since I have been teasing you for so long, I will give you a sneak peak and show you the cover, which I adore.

Isn’t that so cool? I’m totally in love with it, which is good, since I’ll be seeing it all over the place soon enough, right?

I’m sorry to make you wait. But it will be worth it, when it’s all said and done. Thanks for being patient — at least one of us is!

Great decision to get a good edit before you release, even if it’s a tough one. (Wait, no, it’s easy, right? Like change?) Good luck with the release on a month! And congrats on finishing a book. Wow!!! xo
